About the Department
American University of Cyprus, Faculty of Law, Law undergraduate program is nourished by the international arena and accepts students from all over the world and operates to provide a unique education and training within the framework of universal law principles.
Vision
The department, which aims to provide graduates who are equivalent to international standards in education, competent in the field of legal theory and practice, creative and who have adopted universal law principles, develops a critical thinking-centered education model that aims to enrich education with interdisciplinary collaborations and catch up with current science.
Mission
To train legal people who have the qualifications to fulfill the profession of lawyer and judge on national and international platforms, who can establish interdisciplinary relationships, who research, have a scientific approach, follow innovations, and improve themselves. To produce graduates who can practice in individual and group work, and to raise talented, creative, critical minded and respectful legal people to professional ethics.
Program Description
The basic philosophy of the law undergraduate program is to evaluate field-specific knowledge with a critical approach and to create sensitivity to think, design and apply within the framework of social responsibility, sustainability and ethical values. In this context, it is aimed to provide national and international qualifications that can develop legal practices, follow legislation and innovations, and include the knowledge, skills and competencies required for the profession.
Registration and Admission Conditions
Students are admitted to this program within the framework of the regulations determined by the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK).
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the undergraduate law program, it is required to get a passing grade from 50 courses (Local Credit: 140, ECTS: 244) in the 4-year (8 semesters) curriculum, have an average of 2.00 or above, and successfully complete two internship courses.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates of the American University of Cyprus, Faculty of Law can work as lawyers, prosecutors and judges, as well as notaries. In addition, they can be employed as legal consultants and legal consultants in banks and financial institutions, as experts and inspectors in various ministries, and as bailiffs. Faculty of Law graduates can also continue their master’s and doctoral studies and work in academic institutions.
