Holistic Care and Management in Health Systems Symposium Held at AUC

The “Symposium on Holistic Care and Management in Health Systems,” organized by the School of Health Professions (SMYO) at the American University of Cyprus (KAÜ), was held on Monday, March 16, 2026, in the university’s conference hall. The symposium, attended by academics and professionals working in the health field, featured discussions on holistic care approaches in health systems led by experts from various disciplines.
According to information provided by the KAÜ Communication and Press Coordination Office, Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci delivered the opening address at the symposium, which began at 10:00 a.m. Prof. Dr. Turgay Akalın served as the symposium chair and moderator, while Dr. Yezdan Çağlar served as the symposium secretary.
The symposium addressed the managerial and multidisciplinary aspects of holistic care models in healthcare systems, and assessments were conducted regarding quality of care, patient satisfaction, and sustainable practices.
In his opening remarks at the symposium, KAÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare, stating, “A holistic care approach in healthcare systems is a crucial strategy that directly impacts not only treatment processes but also patient satisfaction, service quality, and the sustainability of healthcare services. “As universities, we place great importance on increasing academic research and scientific collaboration in this field,” he said.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Turgay Akalın, Director of the Vocational School of Health Sciences and Chair of the Symposium, touched on the symposium’s purpose, stating, “With this symposium, we aimed to discuss the managerial and multidisciplinary dimensions of holistic care models in healthcare systems and to create an academic platform where academics and experts from various health disciplines can share their knowledge and experience. We believe that scientific collaborations and interdisciplinary studies play a crucial role in the advancement of healthcare services.”
