Mission

The Information Technology program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in IT-related fields. It emphasizes meeting user needs within organizational and societal contexts by selecting, developing, applying, integrating, and managing computing technologies. Aligned with the vision of the American University of Cyprus and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the program strives to be a leading center for IT education, development, and consultation, utilizing the latest IT technologies and innovative approaches in teaching, learning, and IT solution development.

General Information

In the first year, students build a strong foundation in English, mathematics, business administration, and programming. During the second and third years, they take core courses in key areas of information technology, including computer networks, operating systems, internet programming, databases, system analysis and design, and software engineering. In the final year, students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of elective courses to develop expertise in their areas of interest. Additionally, they work on graduation projects based on real-world business topics, helping them transition smoothly into the job market.

The IT program is designed to equip graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their careers or pursue further education in the field.

Graduates of the program:

  • Are well-prepared for careers and/or advanced studies in IT, specializing in areas such as software analysis and design, system development, web and multimedia applications, computer architecture, and networking.
  • Receive a high-quality education in modern programming, system analysis and design, database development and administration, web and multimedia design, and computer architecture, incorporating hands-on experience with hardware and software tools.
  • Develop strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling them to collaborate effectively in team-based projects while fostering a professional mindset and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Benefit from an interactive learning environment guided by experienced faculty and a curriculum that keeps pace with the latest advancements in IT, ensuring they gain both analytical and critical thinking abilities alongside practical skills aligned with industry needs.
