AUC 2023 – 2024 Graduation Ceremony
The American University of Cyprus 2023- 2024 Academic Year Spring Term Graduation Ceremony was held at AUC Alayköy Campus on Wednesday, 12 June in the evening. At the ceremony, where AUC associate degree and undergraduate graduates received their diplomas, the Fashion Show, where special designs prepared by the students of the Fashion Design and Textile Associate Degree Department were presented, received great appreciation from the guests.
The ceremony, which took place at AUC Alayköy Campus, was attended by the Speaker of the TRNC Republican Assembly Zorlu Töre, TRNC Civil Defence Nicosia Regional Head Mustafa Duyar, Nicosia District Governor Cemal Kuyucu, TRNC Statistical Institute Head İrfan Tansel Demir, Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination (YÖDAK) Board Member Prof. Dr. Remziye Terkan, YÖDAK Secretary General Erdinç Akgür, American University of Cyprus Rector Prof. Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci, AUC Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tutku Akter Gökaşan, AUC Secretary General Assoc. Dr. Alp Karaca, AUC Board of Trustees Member Sevim Erdal, Girne American University (GAU) Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Haydar, GAU Health Culture and Sports Department Head Türkay Akpınar, GAU Dean of Students Prof. Dr. Serdar Yurtseven, Senate Members, Faculty Members, graduates and their families attended the ceremony.
The ceremony started with the enthusiastic march of the graduates accompanied by Rector Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci, Vice Rectors and academicians, followed by a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, followed by opening speeches.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the graduates of the 2023-2024 Academic Year Spring Semester: Zehra Evliya, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Visual Communication Design, and Annie Sando Johnson, graduated from the Faculty of Business and Economics, Department of International Business Management, made speeches on behalf of foreign students.
Within the scope of the AUC Graduation ceremony, the special designs of the students who completed their first education in the Department of Fashion Design and Textile Associate Degree this year met with the audience.
Keçeci: “We are proud to have new graduates in the 7th year”
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci, Rector of the American Cypriot University, noted that they are proud to give new graduates in the 7th year by growing day by day. Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci stated that AUC has a humanist vision with its social responsibility projects, its approach to society and public interest, its sensitivity to human and animal rights, and that they will continue to combine society and higher education with more projects in the future. Rector Keçeci expressed his congratulations to all graduates and their families who completed their education at a university like AUC, which raises individuals who are sensitive to social issues as well as in higher education, and thanked AUC academicians for their devoted work.
Töre “AUC is a university that has proven its success”
In his speech, TRNC Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre stated that the success of the graduates is a great value for our country as well as for AUC and said: “Dear parents, academic staff, academicians, our graduates and TRNC universities are very valuable for us. Our universities are the apple of our eyes, there are successful universities, there are universities that are thirsty for success, but Girne American University and American University of Cyprus are universities that have proven their success. May their paths be clear for this,” he said and congratulated all graduates, their families and the academicians who raised them.
Akter Gökaşan: “We are proud of AUC Alumni”
AUC Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Tutku Akter Gökaşan noted that graduation is the beginning of a new path and stated that the graduates will contribute to all humanity in their work for the development and development of their country thanks to the knowledge and equipment they have acquired within the AUC family. Expressing that they are proud of the achievements of AUC graduates, Akter Gökaşan congratulated the families of the graduates and wished them success in their new lives.
