The “Kayıp” Documentary Attracted Great Interest.

The Lost Documentary Film prepared by the students of the American University of Cyprus (KAU) Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) as a Fall Semester Project met with the audience at the KAU Conference Hall on Wednesday, January 15th. The screening of the Documentary Film titled “Lost”, which was shot in the villages of Koruçam and Karpaşa in the north of Cyprus and focuses on Maronites, received great appreciation from the audience.

American University of Cyprus, Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Department of Visual Communication Design Faculty Member Dr. Serkan Fundalar stated that the documentary on Maronites living in the villages of Koruçam and Karpaşa was shot in the villages of Koruçam and Karpaşa, and was prepared within the scope of the GSF Visual Communication Design Department Scriptwriting Course and Workshop Studies Course after three months of research and interviews. Fundalar said that beyond being a student project, the visual narration of the documentary by the residents of the Maronite village added originality to the work and that it is a document that will shed light on history.

KAU Rector and Acting Dean of GSF Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci underlined that the film screening, which took place within the scope of the Fall Semester Student Projects, performed above the expectations and said that the documentary, which was fictionalized with the storytellers of the Maronite people living in the northern part of Cyprus for many years, constitutes an important source in terms of being living witnesses of the History of Cyprus. Keçeci congratulated the students who contributed to the preparation of the documentary, which was presented with historical and cultural information, and thanked all stakeholders who contributed.
