Commemorating Süleyman Ergüçlü with loyalty

In the panel organized at KAU on “The Role of Süleyman Ergüçlü in the Turkish Cypriot Community and the Press”, Süleyman Ergüçlü, the unforgettable name of the Turkish Cypriot media, was remembered once again with his works and values he left behind. The panel was remembered as an unforgettable example of loyalty for both the press community and the academic world.

KAU Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alp Karaca, who made the opening speech of the panel, emphasized the place of the deceased journalist in the memory of the Turkish Cypriot community with the following words:

“We are here today to honor the memory of Süleyman Ergüçlü, a veteran journalist who left deep traces in the press history of the Turkish Cypriot community. I would like to thank Dr. Emel Yılmaz, who organized this meaningful panel, our valuable speakers and all our guests for honoring us with their participation.”

Dr. Emel Yılmaz, one of the architects of the panel, stated that she organized the panel with her students within the scope of the Communication Skills Course and that she was proud that her students successfully fulfilled their responsibility in a qualified study and expressed her feelings as follows:

“Süleyman Ergüçlü was not only a journalist but also the voice, conscience and memory of the society. At the age of 69, we organized this meaningful event to pay our debt to our teacher who passed away. It is our professional responsibility not to forget the values he added to journalism and society.”

At the end of the panel, KAU Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alp Karaca presented certificates of appreciation to Neşe Ergüçlü, Journalist Emin Akkor, Journalist Ali Baturay and Dr. Emel Yılmaz. The event ended with a photo taken with the participants.
