Purpose of the Program

American University of Cyprus, Faculty of Education, Psychology undergraduate program has created a conceptual and theoretical framework in the basic and applied fields of psychological science; have an understanding of scientific thinking, critical thinking and reasoning skills; interested and curious about the human mind and experiences; acquired professional skills; To train psychologists who understand the limits and responsibilities of their profession.

Vision

The basic vision of the program is; To train highly qualified psychologists who have learned to learn and can stand on their own feet, which is what the country and humanity needs, and to prepare students to work on areas such as social, development, industry, health, media and clinical psychology in their postgraduate education by introducing them to various subjects, perspectives and inquiries.

Mission

To be open to development and change in order to contribute to the development of psychological science, to conduct scientific research and activities in the field of Psychology, and to train qualified, ethical and open-minded scientists and psychologists in order to benefit people’s mental health.

Program Description

The basic philosophy of the psychology undergraduate program is to train educators, researchers, knowledge producers and practitioner experts who are equipped with advanced knowledge and skills in order to provide mental health protection and development, improvement and rehabilitation services at the individual-family-society level.

Registration and Admission Conditions

Students who are TRNC citizens and started and completed high school in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; They can win a scholarship by participating in the scholarship exam held by the university every year, or they can register between the registration dates announced every year.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from the psychology undergraduate program, students are expected to complete a program of 147 credits (240 ECTS) during the four-year education and must obtain a general academic average of at least 2.00 according to the quadrature system. Students are obliged to complete an internship for 30 working days. The main purpose of this internship program is to integrate and support the theoretical and practical knowledge learned during psychology undergraduate education with field experience and practices.

Employment Opportunities

American University of Cyprus, Faculty of Education, Psychology undergraduate program graduates; They can work in industry, human resources departments, healthcare institutions and private and/or public organizations that provide psychology services. After completing their master’s degree and doctorate, they can specialize in one of the sub-branches of psychology and become research assistants or lecturers in academic institutions. Apart from this, they can also open their own clinics.
