Journalist Emin Akkor Visited AUC

Emin Akkor, an experienced journalist and a well-known name in the Cypriot media world, visited the American University of Cyprus (KAU). Within the scope of the visit, Akkor met with KAU Rector Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci and exchanged views on possible cooperation in the field of media and communication.

Emin Akkor, who has been leading the media sector for many years; He held important positions such as Chairman of the Board of Directors, President of the Cyprus Turkish Cypriot Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief and Editor-in-Chief at Turkish Agency Cyprus. Today, Akkor, who continues to serve as the Editor-in-Chief of Kıbrıs Net Haber, also continues to contribute to the sector with media and communication courses for young journalists.

The visit was organized within the framework of the media studies to be carried out within the scope of the “Communication Skills” course carried out under the coordination of Dr. Emel Yılmaz within the Visual Communication Design Department of KAU Faculty of Fine Arts. KAU Rector Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci expressed his satisfaction with the visit and emphasized that the contribution of experienced journalists to the university’s projects in the field of press and media is a great chance for students.

Journalist Emin Akkor stated that the scientific and practical media studies to be carried out together with KAU will benefit both students and the sector. Akkor stated that they would be very happy to take part in joint projects with the university.

Prof. Dr. Emel Yılmaz stated that the active participation of veteran journalists in the media project to be carried out within the scope of the Communication Skills course will increase the quality of the project. Stating that this contribution will add great value to the students’ applied learning processes, Yılmaz expressed her excitement for the project.

While the visit is considered as the first step of new bridges to be built between the university and the media sector, joint seminars, workshops and field practices are planned to be organized in the future.
