AUC Administrative Coordinator Dr. Emel Yılmaz, in her message published on the occasion of “December 3 Day of Persons with Disabilities”, made the following statements:

“December 3” is a special day celebrated to increase social awareness and sensitivity by drawing attention to the vital rights and problems of disabled people around the world. As a university, we carry out social activities and produce scientific publications in order to establish an educational environment that will enable our students to grow up as individuals with high awareness by enabling them to recognize the vital rights and problems of disabled individuals while fulfilling their social responsibilities in their education and training processes. In order for our students to adapt to all differences without physical barriers throughout their university life, we develop joint projects to discuss and seek solutions together by providing equal opportunities to our disabled students within the scope of applied courses. We realize our activities that we have prepared with the belief of conducting an education policy that respects the rights of disabled individuals in a team spirit and discipline. We continue our projects developed as a university in an integrated manner with our collaborators and stakeholders in the field of civil society and disseminate them to the general public through mass media in order to fulfill our responsibility towards the public.
Based on the understanding of education that embraces the whole society, I hope that December 3 World Day of Persons with Disabilities will be remembered in every period of life with the belief that we can overcome obstacles together by enabling disabled individuals to carry out activities that will encourage their participation in social life.

AUC Faculty of Fine Arts, Head of Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and Member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Turkish Orthopedically Disabled Association Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buğu Şah published a message on December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buğu Şah made the following statements in his message

“December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an important opportunity to draw attention to the rights of persons with disabilities, raise social awareness and remind that an equal life is everyone’s right. However, for real change, it is necessary to work on this issue every day, not just one day.
Education is the most powerful tool for the transformation of social mentality. All educational institutions, from pre-school to higher education, should act with an understanding that puts the rights of persons with disabilities at the center and adopt an inclusive approach. Disability is not only an individual issue, it is a social responsibility and this responsibility can be fulfilled by raising conscious individuals.
An egalitarian world can be possible with the steps to be taken together”.
