AUC Represented at the International Conference on Quality in Higher Education in Baku

Dr. Emel Yılmaz, Faculty Member of the Department of Visual Communication Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Cyprus American University (AUC), represented AUC at the International Conference on Quality in Higher Education held in Baku on November 27-28. In addition to chairing various sessions over the two days, Yılmaz delivered a presentation titled “Internationalization in Higher Education: A Global Framework.”
In his presentation, Yılmaz emphasized that internationalization in higher education has become a fundamental process transforming universities, education policies, and academic structures under the influence of globalization. He made various assessments, noting that the strategic value of knowledge, the need for qualified human resources, increasing student mobility, and competition between countries have expanded the boundaries of higher education. He stated that internationalization is a multidimensional area of transformation that encompasses not only student and academic mobility, but also program alignment, quality assurance, research collaborations, and the alignment of institutional structures with international standards.
AUC academic Dr. Emel Yılmaz stated that internationalization is based on fundamental reasons such as participation in global knowledge production, adaptation to social and economic expectations, and ensuring diploma recognition. She also emphasized that increasing international competition further highlights the importance of mechanisms such as quality assurance, accreditation, standardization, and transparency, underscoring that internationalization is a multidimensional process that enhances education quality, strengthens intercultural interaction, and shapes the future of higher education by increasing countries’ scientific visibility.
