Holistic Care and Management in Health Systems Symposium Held at AUC

The “Symposium on Holistic Care and Management in Health Systems,” organized by the School of Health Professions (SMYO) at the American University of Cyprus (AUC), began with the first session chaired by SMYO Director Prof. Dr. Turgay Akalın.

In the first session: Dr. Yezdan Çağlar and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Portakalcı presented “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare: A Qualitative Document Analysis from Management and Communication Perspectives,” and Physical Therapist Arzu Tavukcuoğlu on “The Role of Neurocognitive Factors in the Decision to Return to the Field Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction: A Review of the Current Literature,” Dr. Koray Uğurluay on “The Administrative Dimension of Holistic Care Models: An Assessment of Institutional Coordination and Public Capacity,” Pharm. Banu Tuncay “Pharmacy Services in a Holistic Health System,” PT Erol Erim Kolören “Current Approaches in Stroke Rehabilitation: A Review of the Literature from the Last 5 Years,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Kurtcebe “The Prescription of Politics: GeSY and Ideological Governance in Cyprus,” Clinical Psychologist Merve Karafistan “Short-Term Solution-Focused Therapy in Health Psychology: A Review Study,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Çorbacı “Psychotherapy-Based Approaches to Improving Treatment Adherence in Chronic Patients: A Review and Proposal for a Positive Psychotherapy-Based Intervention Program” and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asım Dinler “The Contribution of Digital Advertising to the Brand Image of Healthcare Institutions: A Conceptual Framework on the Relationship Between Perception, Trust, and Preference” delivered their presentations.

The second session, titled “Home Care Services” and chaired by Dr. Yezdan Çağlar, a faculty member at the Vocational School of Health Sciences, featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Turgay Akalın on “Home Care Service Policies in the World and in Turkey,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tülin Akalın and Podiatry Assistant Halide Sadrazam Çoban presented on “Geriatric Foot Health in Home Care,” Specialist Pharmacist Banu Tuncay on “Pharmacy and Home Care,” Specialist Physical Therapist Arzu Tavukcuoğlu presented on “The Effect of Home-Based Exercise Programs on Fear of Falling and Functional Independence in the Geriatric Population.”

The symposium concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants and a closing ceremony.
