AUC visited Rauf Raif Denktaş Vocational High School
American University of Cyprus took part in the 2024-2025 Academic Year Furniture and Interior Design Knowledge and Skills Competition organized by the Directorate of Vocational Technical Education Department, where young talents competed.
On April 21, 2025, the 2024-2025 Academic Year Knowledge and Skills Competition was successfully held at the Furniture and Interior Design Workshop of Rauf Raif Denktaş Vocational High School. The competition was organized under the coordination of the Directorate of Vocational Technical Education Department and students studying in the field of furniture and interior design had the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills.
Among the jury members of the competition, American University of Cyprus (AUC) Faculty of Fine Arts Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buğu Şah also took part. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şah contributed to the organization of the competition and had the opportunity to closely observe the professional development of the students. The competition was carried out in a transparent manner in line with the predetermined specifications and scoring scale.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buğu Şah made the following statement after the event
“Within the scope of the organization, we have witnessed a very valuable event where young people showcased their talents. The works created by students by combining their creativity, technical knowledge and hand skills give great hope for the future. I am extremely happy to be a part of this meaningful event. I wholeheartedly support such activities that develop the visions of young people and prepare them for their professions, and I hope that they will continue.”
In the competition, students exhibited their talents in different fields such as furniture design, technical drawing, material knowledge and applied production. Jury members made evaluations based on criteria such as design originality, workmanship quality, ergonomics, functionality and presentation.
At the end of the event, successful students were awarded various prizes and all participants were presented with certificates.
