Strategic Initiative from AUC in the Field of Information Technologies

The American University of Cyprus (AUC) has expanded its educational vision in parallel with digital transformation and technological developments. The university aims to train individuals specialized in the field of information technologies with the new departments opened within the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. KAU continues to train future experts in the field of information technologies with its experienced academic staff, education language at international standards and strong curriculum.

Emphasizing that the Faculty of Engineering and Technology is a first in Northern Cyprus, American University of Cyprus Rector Prof. Dr. Gökçe Keçeci stated that the Computer Technology and Information Systems (IT) and Management Information Systems (MIS) undergraduate programs started education in English. Keçeci said that the Computer Programming and Information Technology (CPIT) associate degree program in English also accepts students under the umbrella of the School of Computer and Technology, and at the master’s level, the Information Systems program was opened with thesis and non-thesis options, appealing to graduates who want to gain academic and professional depth in the field of informatics.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Mustafa İlkan also announced that KAU is accelerating its efforts to open a PhD program in the field of information technologies, while continuing to develop new undergraduate programs in the fields of cyber security and artificial intelligence. Prof. Dr. Mustafa İlkan emphasized that the Banking and Finance department, which is planned to be established within the Faculty of Business and Economics, aims to provide educational opportunities at the intersection of digital finance and technology, and stated that students graduating from the University’s information technology programs are equipped to work in a wide range of professional groups such as software engineers, systems analysts, database administrators, network engineers, project managers and IT consultants.
