Program Objective

The Culinary Arts Associate Degree Program at Cyprus American University aims to educate individuals who are passionate about food culture and culinary practices, equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel in their professional careers. The program is designed to train competent culinary professionals who can effectively apply their learning in the food and beverage industry.

Vision

The vision of the Culinary Arts Program is to produce chefs who are capable of presenting examples from both national and international cuisines and who are prepared to become future executive chefs. The program also aims to contribute to addressing the shortage of qualified and professionally trained personnel in the hospitality and food service sectors.

Mission

The Culinary Arts Program seeks students who are disciplined, responsible, curious about food culture, and passionate about cooking. The mission of the program is to nurture the next generation of successful chefs, including those with the potential to earn prestigious accolades such as Michelin Stars.

Program Description

The duration of the Culinary Arts Associate Degree Program is two years. Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded the professional title of “Chef.” The program offers scholarships of 100%, 75%, and 50%, subject to change each academic term. Core courses and practical training are delivered by experienced faculty members and seasoned culinary professionals from the industry.

Admission Requirements

Student admissions are governed by regulations set by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and are conducted through the central examination system of the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). All registration procedures follow the guidelines established by ÖSYM. The Rectorate announces registration dates, required documents, and registration locations for new students each year. Registrations are processed by the Registrar’s Office. Incomplete documents or mail-based applications are not accepted. Applications found to include falsified documents will be rejected, and erroneously accepted applicants will have their registration annulled.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate from the Culinary Arts Associate Degree Program at Cyprus American University, students must successfully complete all required courses in the curriculum. Additionally, students must complete a 30-day internship as part of their graduation requirement.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of the program have the opportunity to work in the food and beverage sector of the tourism industry. During their studies, students gain first-hand experience through internships at 4- or 5-star hotels and hospitality establishments. For those interested, international internship opportunities are also available.

The university operates several food and hospitality facilities including Camelot Beach Club, Le Chateau Lambousa Hotel, and Akpınar Patisserie. Many students receive job offers from the venues where they complete their internships.
